63 Building

63 Building is one of the skyscraper in Yeouido, Seoul, South Korea. Located next to the Han River, it provides a spectacular view of the Seoul city. From the observation deck, one can see the surrounding city and the Han River. It costs 7,000 won to go up to the observation deck.

There is also an underwater aquarium and IMAX theatre located at B1.

More information can be found here: 63 Building

The above photo shows the city view with Seoul Tower in Namsam Park at the background seen from the 63 building from across the river

Different style of Korean BBQ in Seoul

When we talk about Korean BBQ, we usually think of the pork belly or sliced beef. Well, at least that's the exposure that I get usually get. However, just noticed a different type of Korean BBQ in Seoul (common for them, not for me). Well, there's still a tiny "stove" right in the middle of the table, but the meat served is not pork belly (cholesterol level going up) or sliced beef. It's pork ribs. This dish is called "Teng Khal Bi" which literally translates to the back portion of the pork ribs. When the waitress brought it over to us, it's not raw but has already been grilled using firewood. The purpose of the "stove" in front of us is just to keep it warm. It's delicious. Soft meat and marinated just right.
We are provided with a glove and with that, a yummy dinner is presented to us ...

Makan trip to Ipoh

Day: National Day (31st Aug 06)
Destination: Foh San Restaurant, Ipoh
Objective: Makan (Eating) Trip

It's 7.30 am. Talk about the early bird catches the worm. But worm is not the objective... hehe.. It's Dim Sum... in Ipoh. It takes about 2 hours to reach the destination. Real glad that the traffic was real smooth. Guess everyone is still zzz-ing from partying last night.

Reached the destination around 10am and it's packed with people.

Outside the restaurant

There's literally someone standing next to every tables there waiting for the occupants to finish eating so that they can take over the table. That's STRESSful!!

The crowd... the wait...

Lucky stars must be on our side as we managed to get a table quite fast :) and able to start our feast...

Varieties of Dim Sum

Fresh shrimp covered with fish paste

Dim Sum with salted egg yolk

Champagne pork ribs

"Ham Sui Kok"

Fish ball with century egg

Special tau-fu (bean curd) dim sum

From Foh San Restaurant, we side tracked and detour to savour some other delicacies that can be found in Ipoh like this tau-fu-far not far away from the restaurant.

Tau-fu-far with cincau.. yummy..

And not forgetting OldTown white coffee (though I ended up with Ice lemon tea..sigh!!) ...

Half boiled egg with hard boiled yolk

Had an interesting encounter with this specialty egg dish at the Narita Airport in Japan, where the yolk is hard boiled but the white is half boiled. Interesting mix.. but taste just like a normal egg :p

The Underground

A visit to the Underground tour is a great way to learn how the Seattle town is the way it is today. An interesting tour that shows the Seattle's old sidewalk, street and basement of the old buildings.

Part of the old "artifacts" that can be found, this is part of Seattle's Original Water Sysem in 1854.
